Macaroni recipe | How to make macaroni pasta 

Macaroni recipe – Macaroni is a type of pasta and can be substituted in any pasta recipes. This is an Indian style Macaroni pasta recipe made with elbow pasta, onions, tomatoes, vegetables and garam masala. This masala pasta is easy and quick to make,  suitable for Indian palate compared to other pasta recipes and a must try one. 

This masala macaroni is mild in spices making it suitable for kids. If you want to increase the spice level, you can add regular red chilli powder instead of kashmiri red chilli powder. You can even season it with mixed herbs and red chilli flakes while serving.

Cooking instructions with step by step pictures

In a pan add 3 cups of water and bring it to a boil. Once water comes to a boil add salt, oil and the pasta.

Cook the pasta till al dente. This takes around 7 to 8 minutes. Check out the manufacturer’s cooking instructions in the package for exact cooking instructions. Once done, drain and remove the pasta and keep it aside. 

Heat butter or oil in a pan.

Add minced garlic and chopped onions. 

Saute till onions are browned.

Now add finely chopped tomatoes or tomato puree. Saute till tomatoes are cooked thoroughly.

Add the chopped vegetables.

Mix well and add salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder.

Add ½ cup of water.

Cook till the vegetables are done. 

Once vegetables are done add the macaroni pasta and garam masala powder.  Add tomato ketchup. Mix everything together and simmer for 3 to 4 mins.

Serve hot.

You can add any vegetables including carrots, beans, cabbage, capsicum, green peas, sweet corn, baby corn, broccoli and cauliflower. You can cook this macaroni pasta without any vegetables with just onions, tomatoes and spices.
