This is an Indian style Macaroni pasta recipe made with elbow pasta, onions, tomatoes, vegetables and garam masala. This masala pasta is easy and quick to make, suitable for Indian palate compared to other pasta recipes and a must try one.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup macaroni pasta
  • 3 cups water
  • ½ tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter / oil
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 small sized onion
  • 1 medium sized tomato / ½ cup tomato puree
  • cup chopped capsicum
  • cup shredded cabbage
  • cup diced carrots
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup

Instructions
 

  • In a pan add 3 cups of water and bring it to a boil. Once water comes to a boil add salt, oil and the pasta.
  • Cook the pasta till al dente. This takes around 7 to 8 minutes. Check out the manufacturer's cooking instructions in the package for exact cooking instructions. Once done, drain and remove the pasta and keep it aside.
  • Heat butter or oil in a pan.
  • Add minced garlic and chopped onions.
  • Saute till onions are browned.
  • Now add finely chopped tomatoes or tomato puree. Saute till tomatoes are cooked thoroughly.
  • Add the chopped vegetables.
  • Mix well and add salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder.
  • Add ½ cup of water.
  • Cook till the vegetables are done.
  • Once vegetables are done add the macaroni pasta and garam masala powder. Add tomato ketchup.
  • Mix everything together and simmer for 3 to 4 mins.
  • Serve hot.

Notes

You can add any vegetables including carrots, beans, cabbage, capsicum, green peas, sweet corn, baby corn, broccoli and cauliflower.
You can cook this macaroni pasta without any vegetables with just onions, tomatoes and spices.
